Last year local residents group Impact organised Claylands Green action day. A few months later and we can now see the fruits of their labour. Daffodils are still on their way but the crocuses are blooming nicely. A felled tree made an unexpected appearance but it looks set to be a temporary one -Claylandians have objected and they are to be removed.

Local woodpecker
This picture may not win any wildlife picture awards but I’ve been trying for a while now to get a picture of a local greater spotted wood pecker. They are usually hidden high in the tree canopy -you can hear but not see them. As the leaves have now fallen, there are fewer hiding places. I managed to get this shot as the woodpecker was perched on the oldest tress on Claylands green.

Back again
Have had a little break from the commmunity blog as I’ve been studying…still am in fact.
I’ve also been hoping that switching the comments facility on the blog off for two months will discourage those who try to promote their businesses with time wasting e-mails. These can be far more invasive than junk mail and companies which adopt such business practices are, in my view, unethical. The sad thing is that some of those businesses won’t realise that internet marketing companies are doing this on their behalf. There are better ways to promote your business on the internet than this.
